How Change Text on XP Start Button - A mind blowing trick 0

Previously I had told you how to rename recycle bin in windows xp

now I will tell you about a wonderful trick by which you can rename text on XP Start Button.This trick is must needed for a person like me who hate the name start on Xp start button.

  

For this tweak we need a tool named  resource hacker.....which has been discussed in detailed in my older post (click this link to view the post)


RENAMING START:--------------

Firstly go to this location

C\Windows

and find and then open the file explorer.exe through Resource Hacker

The category we are going to be using is String Table. Expand it by clicking the plus sign then navigate down to and expand string 37 followed by highlighting 1033. If you are using the Classic Layout rather than the XP Layout, use number 38. The right hand pane will display the stringtable. We’re going to modify item 578, currently showing the word “start” just as it displays on the current Start button.

After that just rename the start name to the name of your choice and then compile the script and save the file to explorer1.exe or the name of your choice but remember to end the name with extension .exe  and save the file in   C\Windows itself

MODIFYING THE REGISTRY


Now for the second part of these trick...It is necessary that you see your desired Xp Start button name every time you logon your computer.That's why we have to make a change in the registry


1st Step:---

First type " regedit " in run (....) then navigate to the following value:------

 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows NT\ CurrentVersion\ Winlogon


then double click the value shell and change the explorer.exe to explorer1.exe or the name you had saved in the previous case [ with extension .exe ]



Close Registry Editor and either log off the system and log back in, or reboot the entire system if that’s your preference. If all went as planned you should see your new Start button with the new text

Resource Hacker - A system modifying and tweaking tool 0

Today I will tell you about a interesting tool which will help you  to modify system files like DLL, EXE, CPL, etc.Whats more with this tool you can even change windows look and other interesting tweaks by just editing various Windows files and replacing their resources using Resource Hacker.

With these tool you can rename "start" from start button or the name of  "control panel" or modify your desktop and infinite many tweaks which can happen through this tool

I will post many wonderful hacks which can be done through the help of resource hacker in my later post

It is a portable application so you don't have to install it.

Firstly extract the rar file with the help of winrar or any rar file extractor and after that run the programme  and do wonderful hacking

SuperFast Shutdown - A Great Tool 0

I had previously told many ways by which you can make your shutdown more faster but today I will tell you about a wonderful software by which you can shutdown or restart your computer just within 2 seconds.Yaaa...you heard it right, it is possible with the SuperFast Shutdown

This application performs quick reboot and shutdown operations, although they already can be performed in your computer elsewhere which will be discussed in my later post. The program is nothing more than two easy-to-understand shortcut icons that are displayed on your desktop after installation. SuperFast Shutdown performs an instant restart or shutdown with a click of its corresponding icon, although it doesn't prompt the user to save open files. Install is easy, but it's packaged as a ZIP file with no help or read-me files. Though this freeware offers nothing new, any user will find it useful for quick reboot or shutdown procedures.

It means that it doesn't save any unsaved documents and  frequent using of this software may corrupt your harddisk

Some Antivirus may detect it as a virus but remember it is nothing more than a false detection.

Crazy Google Image Search for 241543903 0

Search for 241543903 in Google image (try here) and you will be surprised to see only images of people with their head into the freezer. The results are both crazy and funny, moreover they are not 5 or 10 but hundreds of such similar images occupying several results page.

#. How it is possible?
The concept behind such weirdness is really simple. Click pictures with head in freezer and upload them on internet/flickr with tag or name as 241543903. When Google indexes these images with similar tag, it starts recognizing 241543903 as a specific word and not some random number. This is a classic example of a community modifying image search results.

#. Whose idea it is?
According to reddit, this crazy idea is supposedly brainchild of David Horvitz originated on 7th April 2009. He started this a project and requested others to upload such images with 241543903 as name. He also posted the first image with such distinctive name on Flickr.

#. What does cryptic number 241543903 mean?
The number 241543903 was taken from the serial number of Horvitz’s refrigerator and barcodes from Udon noodles and Edamame. So it’s just like another random number but since now there are hundreds of images with this name, it now has special position on World Wide Web.

How to Lock icons on desktop 0

You have arranged your desktop to look nicely with your wallpaper. Presently comes someone and mess up the nice arrangement. To lock your desktop icons into place, first arrange it carefully the way you want it to be, then open up the registry editor.

Go to:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\

CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer.

Right-click in the right pane and select New, DWORD Value name NoSaveSettings and press the Enter key. Right-click on the new NoSaveSettings item and select Modify. Enter 1 in the Value data box. After this, whenever you restart Windows, your settings will return to their current state.

How to rename Recycle Bin - For Windows Xp 1

 What a awful  name " RECYCLE BIN" is but with this tweak..you can rename the recycle bin upto your choice and also surprise your friend

OK.....now firstly open your Run window and then type regedit and then you will be in registry editor


( Modifying the registry may harm your Computer so do this only when you know what you are doing..)

1: First Go to --- :

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\MUICache

2: Then double click on the following value

 @C:\WINDOWS\system32\SHELL32.dll,-8964

and rename it to whatever you wish ...and then refresh the registry editor
